Dear Current and Prospective GWERT Mentors:
The George Washington University Entrepreneurs Round Table (GWERT) Mentors is holding its second event, connecting GW student and faculty startups with experienced mentors. We are extending an invitation for you to join us on Monday, February 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, as a mentor because of your affiliation with Executive Leaders Radio and your expertise in entrepreneurship.
Presenting Startups
We have three exciting startups presenting:
Fundzy is an online platform that enables small and medium sized non-profit organizations to accept online donations and provides quality incentives to their supporters that would otherwise only be available to larger organizations. Undergraduate student Dylan Fox in the School of Business is the GW principal.
WiseAgg is a web-based decision support system that gathers real-time wisdom/intelligence from the deep web and visualizes key information for decision makers. The underlying technology is the proprietary big-data analytics techniques which enable the real time collection of aggregate information over numerous deep-web data sources that have never before been able to be analyzed efficiently. Prof. Nan Zhang from the Computer Science Department is the principal.
Best Practice Care addresses the "Quality Chasm" in medicine - the enormous gap between evidence-based best practices and current care. We create technology-enabled services that empower patients to become active partners with physicians in their care, ensuring patients receive the best treatment, while at the same time substantially lowering healthcare costs. Dr. Dan Lieberman from the Psychiatry Department faculty at the Medical School is the GW principal.
How It Works
GWERT Mentors provides a structured matchmaking and monitoring process to bring together experienced startup professionals with GW startups. The long-term focus is on educating and nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs. After the startups present, the mentors will discuss in private what the startups need and who is willing and able to serve on the mentorship team. GWERT Mentors will provide access to meeting space and the Lean Launch Lab software tool to facilitate the ongoing relationship.
Startups with at least one GW student or faculty member as a founder, principal, executive, or officer are eligible to apply for mentorship. Only startups that have demonstrated a solid business concept and commitment to move forward will be accepted.
GWERT Mentors are accomplished entrepreneurs and business/legal/technical professionals who are volunteering their time without compensation. GWERT Mentors work on teams to provide impartial third party advice in their areas of relevant expertise and have agreed to abide by the GWERT Mentors Code of Conduct. Not only will participation provide an opportunity to work with exciting GW startups, but it will also be a great opportunity to network with other outstanding mentors.
Food and drinks will be provided, and parking in GW garages will be validated (parking information will be provided to registrants). Please don’t hesitate to contact me (jimchung@gwu.edu) or Randy Graves (rgraves@gwertmentors.org) with any questions or comments. Additional information on the GWERT Mentors program is available at the GWERT website. To volunteer go to our Registration Page and RSVP as a Mentor from Executive Leaders Radio. We hope you will join us in this exciting new initiative!
